Latest Google AdWords Updates In 2017

As the technologies are changing there is need to change in the digital world as well. Google, as the most prominent digital advertising player in the world is not behind the trend. Google is regularly changing the landscape of the paid search advertising. Therefore, we have made here a quick list of the most important changes in Google AdWords in the year 2017.

1. Google has introduced New AdWords Interface

Google is bringing an electrifying new AdWords interface. The new AdWords Experience is going to be a major visual redesign of the AdWords user interface. More than 100 thousand advertiser’s accounts have already been updated to try out this new AdWords experience. Here’s a quick look at the top changes:

– A fast and modern interface that is intuitive to navigate

– incorporating material design principles

– Marketing objective based campaign management

– New features such as insights-rich “Overview” cards and some product features which are only available in new interface.

– This new UI will become the default view for advertisers starting Q3. Until then, new features will roll out in phases.

– Keyword Planner, Google Analytics, Ad Preview & Diagnosis will open in a new tab in old interface.

– You can switch between old and new interfaces until end of 2017.

Here you should keep in mind that there is no change in how you manage/structure campaigns or in the functionality or data and ads already available on Adwords. It is an UI update only.

2. Expanded text ads

Google has been working on the ETA update from a while and made it live for user from January 2017. As of January 31, 2017, users will only be able to create and edit text ads using the expanded text ad format. Your existing standard text ads will continue to serve along with expanded text ads, but you will not be able to modify their content. However, Yes, You will be able to pause, enable and remove them. It is highly recommended to take steps and transit your standard text ads to the new ETA format.

ETA provides you more space to write your ads so are more effective. You can now write two headlines up to 30 characters each, 1 description of 80 characters, and 2 display urls of 15 characters each.

3. AdWords Price Extension Gets Live On All Devices

Google has introduced Price Extensions in last July to show prices on product and service types in text ads on SERPs. The price extension is now eligible to appear, not just on mobile but on all devices including desktop.

You can show product price information along with your text ads displaying the range of products and services you offer.

4. Separate Device Bids

Now advertisers have more control on device bidding. One can adjust bids on mobile, desktop and tablet separately depending on what device is performing better for them. This feature is introduced to segregate desktop and tablet traffic.

5. Automated Call Extensions in Mobile Ads

Google did an announcement of rolling out automated call extensions in Mobile Ads in February 2017.

An email was sent to AdWords customers conveying that Google will begin generating call extensions automatically for the users who use both call and location extensions.

According to this update, Google will automatically pull phone numbers from your landing pages and set up call extensions in the accounts that don’t as of now have them.

6. Remarketing Lists for Search Ads (RLSA)

Google has introduced “Remarketing lists featuring similar audiences for search ads” in Google SERPs and Shopping campaigns in AdWords.

Similar audiences give advertisers the ability to target customers based on whether or not they have searched for the same things as other site visitors existing in the Remarketing List.

7. AdSense Allows 300×250 Mobile Ads above the Fold

Recently Google has announced an update in policy for AdSense Publishers that they can now include 300×250 ad creatives above the fold on their mobile sites.

How to Get a Website in Google Search Result Pages?

Many of the times business owners on the web asks to me that “How Do You Get a Website on Google“? So to answer the query I have planned to share some necessary and important points to consider so that any webmaster can get their website be indexed in Google and can make appearance in search engine result pages.

What are Search Bots?

Google uses its programs that reads content available on web pages. This program is known as “Google Bots” or “Search Bots” or “Spiders“. These search bots goes over the web links on internet, crawls information from web pages and then puts all this information about websites onto the Google’s database called Google Index. For being appear in Google search results your websites information must reside in Google Index. So getting these Google bots to read and index your website pages is first step to get a website on Google search result pages.

So, now let’s go step by step to know how to get your website appear in Google index.

Make Your Website Search Engine Friendly

Website’s User Interface matters a lot now days. Each page of your website should be clean enough for reading purposes, should have a descriptive and different title, which tells search engines and users that what this page is all about.

Every Page of website should contain Relevant and Different Meta Description and Keywords, which mostly shown as a snippet in search results and tell what the page is all about to Search Engines.

Add Your Website in Google Index

As we discussed above that you must have your website be listed in Google Index, here are various ways you can achieve this goal. Google itself provides the easiest way to index your website by giving the option to add your website in Google directly. For doing so, you will be asked to login in Google account. So you first need to sign up to have a Google account or login if you already have one. Now, go on the link given above and by following the instruction given on the page you can add your site url directly in Google Index.

Except of this you also can choose some other ways to get your site be indexed not only in Google but in Yahoo, Bing and other search engines as well. This process is called Search Engine Submission (SES). You can submit your site directly to many of the Search Engines available over internet. For doing this you can use the links given below:

Free Web Submission – will submit your website to many of the search engines including Google.

Add ME – will submit your website to many of the search engines including Google.

Create XML Sitemap

Next step toward getting you website on Google is to create an XML sitemap of your website. There are various versions of sitemap like XML, HTML, Image Sitemap, Video Sitemap and more. Sitemap lists all of your web pages, products URLs at one single page named “sitemap.xml”. XML version of the sitemap is preferable to Search Engines while HTML version is used for users. You may ask your developer to create a sitemap. If you don’t have a developer in contact, you can use free tools available to create sitemap on your own. One of the best known tool is Sitemap Generator. It’s a free tool available over internet and can create sitemap of your websites very easily.

First upload the output file from the sitemap generator “sitemap.xml” in Root Folder on website so that it can be accessible with the URL

Now login to the Google account and open Google Webmasters account. Add your website in Webmasters account using the button “ADD A PROPERTY”.

After adding a website you will need to verify that you own this website. Verify your website as per instructions given by webmasters.

Later after verification you will be able to see your verified site listed in the webmasters account. Now you can edit website properties and manage the website listed. You can add multiple websites in one webmasters account.

Now click on your websites link to explore and edit website properties in webmaster tool. In the options list go to > Crawl and then click on > Sitemaps. Now you will see an option to Add Your Sitemap. See image below.

Now click on “ADD/TEST SITEMAP” button, it will give you option to add your sitemap’s url. Enter the url of your sitemap as we already uploaded the sitemap in root folder of the website in above steps. Now click on Submit button.

You are done with your sitemap submission to Google Webmasters.

Sitemap will help Google to find all of the URLs available on your site at a single place. Now Google can crawl any information available at any of the pages in your website.

What Is Next?

Have a look; your sitemap is still pending for Indexing by Google.

Within 2 hours to 2 days, Google will read your XML file and use it to index your website’s web pages and other information. The amount of time Google takes to read your website’s pages is just a guess, but it is not often any more than a week. Google does not guarantee that it will index your site based on your sitemap, but most of the time they do.

All Done. Check If Your Website Exists on Google

After 1-2 days of submitting your website’s URL in Google and sitemap in Google Webmasters now it’s time to check if it worked or not. Try searching your website on Google Search using the syntax “”.

This search query will bring up all web pages that Google has indexed for your website. If you do not get any result it means you should wait for some more days and come again to search.
